About Peter Rives, LCAS, LCSWA

What’s therapy like with me?

Being a human being is incredibly challenging, especially in these times. The pace of life, the number of balls that we all have to juggle, and the constant stimulation from all around us can be overwhelming.

My goal when working with clients is to provide an office setting where they can find a moment of peace and calm, allowing them to press pause, take a breath, and ask themselves, “How is it going for me? What needs to change?”

Often, people struggle to do their best in their circumstances, and a supportive, therapeutic setting can help them see their situation from a different perspective.

Meeting your specific needs is the goal.

I work with clients of any identity who may be experiencing any of a variety of concerns. One of my particular interests is working with adults who are experiencing life transitions or asking themselves, “Why am I doing this?”

Some of my work also involves helping people struggling with a variety of concerns, including relationships, communication, career, substance use, process addictions, anxiety, trauma, and eating and body image problems.

My primary clinical approach is Motivational Interviewing (MI), which I supplement with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and parts work.

Although these are my primary approaches, I strive to use the most appropriate strategy for each client.
